VOIP Relay for commercial use?
This may not be the best place for this question, but I'm finding that this technology isn't overly popular. (That is to say that my Google searches aren't returning much useful information).
Our production facility has a large number of handheld radios and a few base stations (in the 2M range) that we use to communicate between various departments, as many companies do. Our IT department is small compared to other departments, and we find that we're pushing the limits of human function to keep someone on-site during the plant's 24/6 or 24/7 production schedule.
I thought that a great option would be to relay a radio through the Internet, using VOIP, so that the few of us in the IT department could support production from home (or wherever we might decide to set up our laptops at the time), simply using our PC speakers and mic, allowing us greater scheduling freedom, and perhaps the ability to sleep every once in a while.
Can anyone here point me in the direction of good material to read and evaluate my options for hardware, pricing, and implementation for such a solution?
Thanks!

Re: VOIP Relay for commercial use?
it is possible for you to set up pmr links in your place of work and access them from anywhere in the world using the voip technology that we use using a fifty pound radio linked to a pc you could access that radio remotely from anywhere the best and free voip programme for this is FRN it is open to any user and can be made completely secure with it having password access if required this can be accessed from any pc and inturn cause your radio to transmit or you could link your first pc to a link radio and access your workshop via radio from your home, shop etc. the set up is fairly straight forward and you can use existing pc's as long as they are set up correctly, if you are using 2metres then Puxing radio's may be the answer, if you are using 446pmr you would be better off with a vox operated radio, I see you are IT so there would be no problem configuring sound cards and router ports and thats it.
Hope this helps

Thank you very much! This was just the information I needed to get this ball rolling.
